Cruz Pulls Anti-Rubio Ad Starring Soft Porn Goddess
READ TIME: 2 MIN.
A Ted Cruz campaign ad intended to slam the conservative credentials of opponent Marco Rubio misfired this week when it was learned that one of the actors who appeared in the spot had a softcore porn past, Buzzfeed reports.
The ad has since been pulled by the Cruz campaign.
"Maybe you should vote for more than a pretty face next time," says actress Amy Lindsay in the TV spot called "Conservatives Anonymous," which is set during a group therapy session. The spot raised eyebrows from political watchers who noted that this was the first time that Cruz took Donald Trump out of his line of fire to take aim at challenger Rubio.
The ad also raised eyebrows at Buzzfeed's editorial staff when they learned that Lindsay, the woman with the "pretty face" line, had appeared in numerous soft porn flicks with titles like "Deviant Whores," "Celebrity Sex Tape," "Sex Spa II: Body Work," "Insatiable Desires," and the 2010 classic "MILF."
"The actress responded to an open casting call," a spokesman for the Cruz campaign told Buzzfeed "She passed her audition and got the job. Unfortunately, she was not vetted by the production company. Had the campaign known of her full filmography, we obviously would not have let her appear in the ad."
To the campaign's credit, the porno alumna in the ad is a self-described Christian and Republican.
One title of note in Lindsay's filmography is the military themed man-on-man bisexual 2008 drama "Dog Tags."
"Abandoned by his father and raised by a single mother, Nate Merritt joins the Marines to support his soon-to-be fiance," reads the description of "Dog Tags" on IMDB. "While on leave in Palm Springs, Nate meets a seemingly free spirited young gay man, who leads him on a path of discovery..."
