Leslie Jordan On Starbucks Incident: I Was So 'Butch!'

Leslie Jordan is speaking out about an incident last week where the out actor threw his beverage at a man who allegedly used gay slurs while at a Starbucks in the gay neighborhood West Hollywood, Calif.

A reporter from TMZ caught up with Jordan and asked what people can learn from the incident.

"We have to stir the pot but we have to do it without losing out temper," Jordan said. "The cop said to me, 'Mr. Jordan, this is a hate crime, if you want to file charges. But they can probably come back at you because you threw the first punch.'

I said, 'How butch! It was a glass of tea!,'" Jordan continued. "But they were coming at me. It was the scardist I've ever been in my life."

The "Will & Grace" star told TMZ the men, who were asked to leave the Starbucks, which is known as the "gay Starbucks," by a manager for being disruptive, used gay slurs and were "coming at me," sparking Jordan to "toss my tea."

Jordan said after that, the scene was "pandemonium" and "mayhem." He said 10 cop cars appeared within 10 minutes.

"People that do not think West Hollywood cops have our back, they're wrong," Jordan said.

The actor said that the men, whom he called "kids," "don't know the power of those words," adding that using gay slurs is a "learned language."

"They can't be using that language. Not in my house, not in my neighborhood," he said. Nevertheless, Jordan admitted his "behavior was atrocious."

The TMZ reporter asked "The Help" star if he owes the men an apology.

"No. Absolutely not," he said, reiterating he handled the incident badly. He said the men were just "posing" and were "showing off." He said they were "terrorizing" the Starbucks and that they "can't act like that."
