"The '9-1-1: Lone Star' was one of People's Ones to Watch in 2021 and we will definitely not have a hard time keeping an eye on him!" In 2020 the 38-year-old actor became the first out Black trans man in a series regular role on network television when he was cast as firefighter Paul Strickland on "Lone Star." He had his break-out role on Ava DuVernay's show "Queen Sugar" on OWN playing Toine Wilkins, a transgender police officer and high school friend of the show's principal character, Ralph Angel. He used being cast in the role as the moment he chose to come out as transgender. "There were a lot experiences I had during my transition and post transition, and I feel that I learned a lot, and I wanted to share that through my work as an artist," he told NBC News.

We'll stop swooning over fictional firemen ... right after we stare at this photo of '9-1-1: Lone Star' actor Ronen Rubinstein for a few more minutes." The 28-year-old Israeli/American actor joined the cast of Ryan Murphy's "9-1-1" franchise as out cop and recovering opium addict Tyler Kennedy "TK" Strand. He came out as bisexual earlier this year in a Variety interview. At the time he had filmed a steamy scene his future police officer boyfriend Carlos Reyes, played by openly gay actor Rafael L. Silva. The scene was so hot the couple received the moniker "Tarlos" on social media.

He went on to star in the Tupac-inspired musical "Holler if Ya Hear Me" on Broadway in 2014, but his break-out role came on Ryan Murphy's "Pose," in which he played dancer Ricky Evangelista. He wrote on IG about coming out: "I encourage every one of you to live your most full, authentic and fulfilling life. I believe coming out is a truly personal and individual journey. I look forward to the day when no child or adult feels the pressure of having to explain their identity and existence for the comfort of the masses. That being said, I also recognize the need for visibility and representation, which is why I stand so firmly in my truth and speak openly about my experience. Grateful for this day and what it represents but will be even more grateful when it's no longer necessary."
